GROWING IN 2021: How to Make This Year Count

By Lavin Alma

Remember such a time last year? What did you foresee in the year ahead? What were your resolutions for the year? Chances are, your expectations for 2020 weren’t wholesomely met.

Now that we’re all yet to adapt to our ‘new normal,’ this year is the ideal time to just reflect on yourself and be the best you can be. One of the keys to achieving our goals is to promote the right way of thinking and create an atmosphere that helps maintain the momentum when going through the ups and downs of life.

Below are some of our favorite tips to rise in 2021.

Nurture your relationships

If 2020 has taught us something, it is the significance of friends and family, and, the value of a strong support system. It is important, for us to grow as individuals, to surround ourselves, physically or virtually, with individuals who will hold us accountable and motivate us to be better. Sadly, with lockdowns, workplace closures, and social distancing being imposed, it has been difficult to stay in contact with such individuals.

As Chris Prentiss, author of “The Laws of Love: Creating the Relationship of Your Dreams,” says, “A relationship is like a garden. To create a condition that will cause your plants to thrive and produce abundantly, you must weed, water, fertilize, and care.” In 2021, try responding to text messages, returning phone calls, and taking the initiative of reaching friends and families you haven’t heard from in some time. This small effort will allow you to stay in contact with the special people in your life.

Special Tip for Tower Gardeners

There are plenty of ways to include friends, family, and your local community on your gardening journey. Members of the Tower Garden community still share their stories—the stories of cooking delicious Tower Garden family recipes with freshly selected items, allowing younger family members to plant new crops, and sharing surplus yields with neighbors.

Set up a balanced diet

Of course, safe living and clean eating at Tower Garden are extremely important to us. But we didn’t just place that particular tip on our list for that reason. For several years scientists, nutritionists and dietitians have researched the link between what we consume and the response of our bodies. It turns out that there is a strong connection between the right food and remaining productive all year long.

As per the Harvard Business Review, “fruits and vegetables contain vital nutrients that foster dopamine production, a neurotransmitter that is crucial to the experience of curiosity, motivation, and commitment.”

Does that imply no more burgers? Of course not, but working with some of these productivity superfoods— like spinach and eggplant—in your everyday diet will keep your confidence and energy high.

Spinach is a very good source of vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, and folate. This green will substantially boost learning ability and memory in terms of productivity. It’s extremely flexible in the kitchen, too. So much so that Cooking Light has discovered 40 different ways to use fresh spinach. But the best part of it? Growing spinach with Tower Garden is simpler than ever before. Learn how to!

Technically a berry, an eggplant is also used for cooking. But the antioxidant nasunin contained in the skin of an eggplant helps enhance the attention and communication between your brain cells. Cooking with an eggplant is easy, too. Just try this simple ratatouille recipe. Here you can find some great tips for growing eggplant in your Tower Garden.

Develop an environment that promotes growth

Our final tip for experiencing growth in 2021 is about moving things around a bit in your home. More than 40% of all working adults in the U.S. are working from home, according to a recent Stanford University report. We can only conclude that this trend will continue as the population becomes more familiar with the concept of working remotely.

Scientists and interior designers alike believe that there are many features and basic home improvements that we should incorporate in order to create spaces designed for maximum efficiency. We’ve mentioned a few of our favorite ideas below.

3 Interior Design Tips for Productivity

Using Plants & Gardens Within

The quest for houseplants and indoor gardens has increased significantly since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic-you can query for Google Trends. Although part of this is due to people having more time to start new ventures, the effect of the plants on our productivity may be another incentive. A U.K. study found that bringing plants or indoor gardens into the workplace increased productivity by 15%. So it’s no wonder that more gardeners set up their Tower Garden within their house or home offices!

Invest in LED lighting

WeWork, a global leader in the co-working space industry, knows something or two about the connection between efficiency and design. In the early stages of the business, millions were spent on R&D to understand the design elements that allowed employees to operate at their highest standards for longer periods. In a recent article discussing the most powerful office lighting, WeWork points out that LED lights not only save money due to their energy efficiency but can also minimize migraines or headaches that fluorescent lights can cause.

Choose the best color

Color is another significant aspect of interior design with regard to efficiency. Since color is subjective, no color improves efficiency more than others. With that said, scientists have found that ‘color balance’ is a major contributor to how relaxed and functional workspaces are.
